The play tells the story of a young couple , Cath y (played by Carol White) and Reg ( Ray Brook s). Initially their relation ship fl ourishes and they ha ve a chil d and m ove int o a moder n home. When Reg is injured and loses his well-paid jo b, they are e victed by ba iliffs, an d they fac e a lif e of poverty a nd unempl oyment, illegally squat ting in empty h ouses and stayi ng in shel ters.
